Wardrobe Care

Rosemary Crites, creator of Cache~Cachet closet storage products, offers advice on keeping seasonal wardrobes safe so that you can keep wearing your clothes year after year.

• Don’t use plastic bags: Storing clothing in plastic bags or containers suffocates clothes and accelerates the aging process, causing your garments to take on a yellow color.

• Don’t hang your knits: Sweaters and other knitwear will stretch over time and elongate.

• Do clean your sweaters before storing them: Before storing seasonal clothing, be sure to wash or dry clean your garments. Moths are attracted to food stains on clothing and eat through garments.

• Do keep your closet looking as beautiful as the things that you have in it: Don’t fill your closet with plastic bins and bags. Not only is it bad for the life of your clothes, but it also makes your closet look like the inside of a refrigerator.

• Do extend the life of your clothes and accessories: Store clothing in cloth storage bags with herbal sachets, like Cache~Cachet covertures and garment covers, to keep clothing safe from snags and other harmful elements to extend the life of your expensive clothing.
